It has been confirmed that we will say goodbye to RS3 Java Client
this month. If you have been using the Java Client, make sure you
upgrade to the new NXT client by then.
According to the official blog this month, Jagex will close all access and play through the Java client on December 18, 2019. The legacy Java client will be shut down at that time.
Currently the Java client is used by fewer than 4% of RS players. With the closure of RS Java Client, Jagex will focus on the far superior NXT version. RS NXT version of the game can offer users loads of benefits, including better performance, increased draw distances and enhanced graphics. Now the develop team is much more confident that the vast majority will be able to jump over to NXT without any trouble.
How about players using RS Java Client?
If you are still playing the game on Java, it is easier to switch Java to RS NXT. Small number of RS players still owns much older machines, or are still running dated versions of Windows. If you are one of them and encounter issues, you can find information and contact Jagex from the Technical help section of the Support centre if you need. There you are able to get in touch if you require further assistance.
